Indian Railways is constantly trying to make its services world class from last five years. In this series of upgrading and modernization, IRCTC is going to open a special hotel for its passengers soon.

These railway hotels will be known as Pod Hotels. The railway’s Pod Hotel has recently launched near Mumbai Central Station, one of the largest railway stations in the country. The passengers coming to Mumbai from other cities will be most comfortable with this railway hotel, so that they can stay here with better experience.

IRCTC Opens Japanese Style Pod Hotel At Mumbai Central Railway Station

The main purpose of the railway is to provide better facilities to the passengers behind the Pod Hotel at a lower cost. Let us know that the first pod hotel in the country is located in Andheri, Mumbai. According to Financial Express, IRCTC spokesperson and Corporate Sales Manager of Maharaja Express Pinakin Morwala told that the Railways is planning to build 30 pod capsule hotels. For which land has also been found. However, this proposal is awaiting the approval of Western Railway. After which its work will be started.

All these facilities will be available in the Pod Hotel

According to media reports, passengers in these pod hotels of railway will get all the major facilities like Air Conditioned, light control, WiFi connectivity, mini television, intercom, locker, power socket. The length of a cabin of a pod hotel being built by the railway will be about 7 feet. In which passengers will be able to stay for 7 to 8 hours. Along with all these facilities, the railway will also provide facilities like dining, washroom, lounge to the passengers.

There are three types of this pod hotel: Classic Pod, Private Pod and Suite Pod. Here’s all you need to know about all the three types of pods that will be available in Mumbai Central Railway Station.

Classic Pod

This will be a 35 feed pod where a single person can fit in easily. This pod will be equipped with facilities like TV, Wi-Fi, power socket for charging and mood lighting.

Private Pod

Private Pod will also be an individual-only pod but it will have a window space, personal TV, complementary Wi-Fi, power socket and mood lighting.

Suite Pod

This will be a 110 feed pod where two people can stay. The pod will have a queen size bed, window facing room, common bath facility, marble study, table, cusioned seats, satellite TV, Wi-Fi, personal locker and luggage storage.

The Railway department had planned to build the pod hotel spread across over 3,000 square feet area at the Mumbai Central Station.

Currently, the Railways has not given any information about the rent of its pod hotels. But to stay in a pod hotel in Andheri, Mumbai, you have to spend tentatively up to 2500 rupees.
